Loving vincent review

Image
I only recently came across this brilliant film when looking through the newly added Netflix films section. I saw this film and watched it with no real thought of what it was about and within 5 minutes, I already realized why this film had done so well at the sun dance festival. the whole film is about the suicide of the world famous painter Vincent Van Gogh is done in the style of van Gogh's painting and all of the frames of animation were made as paintings First and then put together to make a full animation which makes you appreciate the film even more. this animation is paired with a very good story about weather or not he was bullied into death or a genuinely mad man and leaves it to the interpretation of the viewer to make their own mind up which is a sign of brilliant writing which fully deserves a 10/10.

sin city Review

Image
as a movie based from a comic book series, Sin City is a very fascinating and gritty film made by Robert Rodriguez with the input from the writer Frank Miller and Quentin Tarantino, the film follows multiple storylines in the same place called Sin City. the stories follow all kinds of charcters from acholholics to a retering police officer which are broken up induvidually into two parts each and are all mixed around so the movie seems fresher and still intersting regardless. one of the main points of the film is that it is done almost completely in the black and white style used in the origional comics. other than one or two colered in charcters, the film is permanently in black and white style which gives the film more interesting and appeal over other gritty crime thrillers which at the end of the day gives more reason to award it a 7/10

The cornetto trilogy review

Image
As one of my favorite movie trilogies, I have plenty of respect and praise for the Cornetto trilogy. It has some very well structured stories, the humor is very clever and clearly influenced by the british humor that Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have had experience in to the point of being the masters of it in the modern era of comedies. the trilogy is named after a single reference that is mentioned in every single movie that a Cornetto is seen or mentioned in the movie. the way that all of these films have embedded themselves into pop culture is staggering and it is even more impressive considering that all three of the films are very different to each other. all of the films are great on their own but altogether they make one of the best trilogies in comedy history which is well worthy of a 9/10.

first man review

Image
The story of the biopic film "first man" follows the story of Neil Armstrong (played brilliantly by Ryan Gosling) as he is recruited into NASA space program and the suffering, loss and pain he went through to eventually become the first man on the moon. I love how accurate the film is to what actually happened in real life and the film goes leaves no stone unturned when going into Armstrong's personal life. the film uses lots of powerful imagery and symbolism even when he is actually walking on the moon which is filmed beautifully in IMAX. I unfortunately was slightly disappointed that the film did not have much focus on either Buzz Aldrin or Michael Collins. But this is understandable seeing as it is maintaining focus on Neil as a person. this film has easily been one of my favourite Biographical films ever made and matches up well to the like of The Theory Of Everything and Patton, which is why I give this film a 9/10.

the tide advert

Image
this Tide advert uses many commonly used media devices which can be seen here very clearly. when first looking at the advert, you immediately notice that the images show a very typical 1950's style housewife hugging a box of Tide. From this, it should be noted noted that the images and text are all hand drawn which is evidence that the advert was made in the 1950's period when all advertising was drawn by hand. this is also backed up by the depicted housewife being shown as the stereotypical hard working wife who would do all of the chores and housework while her husband is working and making money for the family, and from her clothing which is very reminiscent of the period. Countinung to look at the image of the housewife, we also see that she is hugging the box of Tide with small love hearts just above her. this was clearly done by the artist to represent that the housewife values Tide for how it manages to clean her washing so well. this is also suggested by the co...
