levis advert

background this advert was made in 1992 by BBH Global and it was highly touted to win awards at the advert equivalent of the Oscars. how ever it was never even nominated that year and they had to settle for one of the lesser awards at the show. denotation this advert show that a man wearing Levis jeans in a suburban garden jumping through multiple gardens and jumping into multiple swimming pools and coming up with the jeans completely dry. he eventually meets a young a pretty woman and proceeds to jump from a diving board with her into a swimming pool as the advert ends. connotation from the advert we can see that the marketing team was trying to sell the jeans as never being able to get wet no matter how many times you get them completely soaked they will come out completely dry. the idea of all the women ogling the man as he walks past them could be seen as the idea that the jeans will make you much more attractive and appealing just because of the jeans.

the tide advert

this Tide advert uses many commonly used media devices which can be seen here very clearly. when first looking at the advert, you immediately notice that the images show a very typical 1950's style housewife hugging a box of Tide. From this, it should be noted noted that the images and text are all hand drawn which is evidence that the advert was made in the 1950's period when all advertising was drawn by hand. this is also backed up by the depicted housewife being shown as the stereotypical hard working wife who would do all of the chores and housework while her husband is working and making money for the family, and from her clothing which is very reminiscent of the period. Countinung to look at the image of the housewife, we also see that she is hugging the box of Tide with small love hearts just above her. this was clearly done by the artist to represent that the housewife values Tide for how it manages to clean her washing so well. this is also suggested by the co...

Cortana Cortana is from the very popular first person shooter series Halo develop by at first Bungie but now it is owned by Microsoft and their 343 division after they Kept the licence after Bungie plot away from microsoft. the premise of the game is that humanity has expanded across the universe and met an evil alien species called the Covanent. in order to fight them the now reformed UNSC created a set of super soldiers called spartans. each spartan has its own set of powerful amour witch comes with its own individual AI in which case the one assigned to the master chief (the character you play in the game.) is Called Cortana who gives tactical advice to Master Chief in combat and aids him by working in technical jobs that Chief is unable to do. other characters in this game are portrayed as physical and tough characters so Cortana provided a nice change of pace for her to be a much more innocent and silent working assistant.
