Analyse the ways in which meaning is constructed in this media product.

from this image of an advert for Rimmell lipstick, we can see that there is a young women in her 20s looking at the viewer while sipping on a soft drink while in very heavy make-up completed by having deep red lipstick, which would suggest love through the connotation that red represents love. she is wearing big earrings, big metal bangles and a jean shirt with no sleeves which looks like it was ripped from two separate pairs of jeans, which would suggest she is rebellious and against what is normal in society which would be linked to the main title saying; "wild without a trace". this is a also backed by the producer purposely giving the model a carefree and disinterested facial expression.

The background is coloured in a majority of pink which would suggest that the advert is aimed for a younger female audience. the background is complete with messy towels with the Union Jack stained into them in various colours of pink and grey which would also lean more towards a rebellious nature. the whole background makes good use of its space and leaves hardly any blank space where there is nothing of note to take interest in. the producer has contributed to this by putting an image of the product under a subheading which makes more use of blank space in the advert and gives the audience an image of what the product actually looks like.

the text font used in the advert is another connotation towards a "fight against order" style message and reminiscent of the band "the sex pistols" and their rebellious and fight against the machine nature which was clearly pulled as part of the inspiration for this advert. the text saying "wild without a trace" could be interpreted as the lipstick makes you like a wild and rebellious teenager but it does not leave or show any trace of this in the process.
